IRL: What's Next?

Posted by YumiPan - 3 hours ago

It's been another, another long time since I posted anything or given an update on what I had listed last year.

A lot has happened since then. I'm going to graduate from university this year, so I'll be spending the entire summer working on personal projects and other things.

Speaking of those projects, this is what I have planned fully now:

YouTube: I have postponed "descending" for now to plan out the schedule of uploads, not just for the TinyTokyo channel but my channel.

A new project has come to fruition: a Madness Tutorial series created by me and members of the community. Given the unpredictable nature of the community, I figured I should try to compile a collection of entertaining and educational videos to help new Madness fans learn how to animate.

Given how long I've been a part of the community, it only seems right to put this together since I have started to feel like I may not want to stick around until it truly ends.

After submitting my final Uni assignment, I felt like I have become a whole new person, and doing madness animations is fun, but I want to go all out in a different lane of animation.

I have also decided that now that I'm a free man, I can focus my time on animation and art fully to my heart's content. I plan to post whenever I feel inspired to animate something, and when I'm not, I will be posting art timelapses.

This goes into my next project!

The Estate - Lil Jit & Blacc Hopper: during my final year I created a concept for a webseries, you may have seen Lil Jit and Blacc Hopper before, but if you haven't they are a duo that plans to reach stardom through art and music.

I felt inspired after finishing the short test animation (which you can see on my YouTube channel), and currently I will be working on the plot some more as well as developing on the short I made and turn it into the first episode.

There will also be a trailer and Kickstarter that will launch (hopefully) on July 5th of this year!

The trailer will be posted on YouTube and Newgrounds, as well as the extended first episode, the reason being that my art is inspired by a lot of pop culture, music, fashion, and internet culture.

I want to respect these things and pay homage by putting this series on these two platforms. This series is a thank you to the people, places, and communities that made me who I am today.

So keep an eye out as I will be (FOR REAL THIS TIME) posting updates about the series on here and all my social media!

In the meantime, you can watch the short pilot/concept! (it's like 1 minute long and kinda scrappy cuz of constant crashes/errors 😔)

Onto the next project!

Music: I make music now...Well, I try to. Last year, I started learning how to use FL Studio to make music for my animations, which then developed into just me making beats in general. I would like to say I'm decent, but I want to keep working on it and eventually acquire actual music-making equipment, such as a piano or keyboard.

When I was a kid one of the things I wanted to do when I got older was learn how to play the piano, so who knows, I might at some point.

Until then, I will be working on my FL Studio journey and post what I think sounds good on SoundCloud and here as well.

I've already released some tracks that I plan to use in videos in the future, but they're also available to download and use for free if you like them.

Now! What's next besides this?

Honestly, other than getting the Kickstarter running and putting stuff out for my channel and TinyTokyo, I want to be more consistent as a creative, connect with other artists, find work that best suits my style and personality, and socialise more with people.

Overall, just working on my wellbeing, I don't have the best lifestyle or habits, and improving my mental and physical health will also help me improve artistically.

I don't want people, thinking I'm depressed or anything either, by mental health I just mean the constant cycle of a burst of creativity and then immediately crashing into weeks of doing F*CK ALL!

Ever since I left college, I've been drawing less with pencil and paper, and now gone fully digital, I want to break this, become less dependant on technology, and go outside more and draw, sketch, and doodle whatever comes to mind.

I want the environment around me to motivate me and inspire me to expand my way of thinking creatively instead of just staying inside and rotting every day. (especially with this summer heat, DX)

Anyway, that's all for now! I am going to put out a video soon as my actual return publically to the art world.

TLDR: I am back! I am graduating soon. I am working on my own show! I make music now. I will be putting more work out consistently!
